Age requirements 6-11
Attendance requirements –None
Swimming requirements – Swimmer must be able to swim one length (25 yards) of freestyle and backstroke.

Super Squad Basics

Workouts are offered three days a week. It is recommended to come to at least two for regular improvement.

Practice duration is 45 minutes, all of which is spent in the water.

There is no attendance requirement for this group, but athletes will improve more quickly, and make more friends, the more often they attend workout.

Quick fact: A study sponsored by USA Swimming found that swimmers are more likely to stay in the sport when they become good friends with other swimmers on the team.

Dolphin Basics

Workouts are offered five days a week. These include the three Super Squad practices and two (Tuesday and Thursday) Age Group practices.

Practice durations are 45 minutes, M-W-F. On Tuesday and Thursday, one hour of practice time is spent in the water, along with thirty minutes dedicated to dry-land exercises.

There is no attendance requirement for this group, but athletes will improve more quickly, and make more friends, the more often they attend workout.

-Athlete is motivated to listen to coaches and try to improve

-Athletes know how their attitude affects their swimming and how it also affects the swimming of others
-Develop consistent practice attendance

As early as possible in an athlete’s swimming career, it is important to understand that while the swimmer is still growing, he or she will continue to improve with average or even poor stroke techniques. Once an athlete stops growing, he or she often has trouble swimming faster if the development of their technique has not been important from the beginning.

Good practice attendance and attitude at an early stage in an athlete’s swimming career can go a long way in ensuring long-term success.
